Beaches in and near Perranporth

Perranporth
Three miles of golden sand greet you at this exceptionally beautiful beach. Picnic in the sand dunes, surf the outstanding Atlantic swell, or dip your toes in the sea-water swimming.

Facilities: public toilets in the beach car park and a pub on the beach. Shops, cafes and restaurants moments from the beachfront.

Nearest car park: Perranporth beach car park on the seafront with direct access to the beach, suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.

Chapel Rock Sea Pool Perranporth

Penhale Sands
Penhale Sands also produces excellent surfing conditions (please be aware it is not lifeguarded) and meets Perranporth beach at low tide. Backed by sand dunes the area is protected for its wildlife and makes for beautiful walks along the coast path.

Facilities: Perran Sands Holiday Park is above the beach, with facilities and eateries.

Nearest car park: Haven Holiday Park have a small paying car park.

Penhale sands beach, Perranporth

Trevaunance Cove
Located at the end of a narrow country lane in St Agnes, Trevaunance Cove is a small sheltered beach surrounded by rugged cliffs. Great for surfing and family beach days.

Facilities: toilets on the way to the beach. A restaurant, cafe and pub are a few steps away.

Nearest car park: An honesty box car park at the bottom of the hill. Reppers Coombe pay and display car park on Quay Road.

Trevaunance Cove St Agnes Cornwall

Chapel Porth
Located down a steep single lane road at the bottom of the valley. A lovely National Trust beach with wonderful surrounding walks including to the iconic remains of Wheal Coates tin mining engine house.

Facilities: toilets and a small café (outdoor seating only) in the carpark on the beachfront.

Nearest car park: Chapel Porth National Trust managed car park on the beachfront.

Porthtowan
A beautiful sandy Blue Flag beach beneath towering cliffs, Porthtowan has quality waves for surfing and a tidal pool for swimming. Located within a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty, it’s a popular family favourite for sand castle building, beach activities and picnicking.

Facilities: Toilets in the car park, a bar/café, shops and children’s play park on the seafront.

Nearest car park: Beach Road car park is a short level walk to the beach.

Holywell Bay
Surrounded by cliffs, Holywell Bay is a picturesque cove with the distinctive Gull Rocks out to sea, a shallow channel great for paddling, soft sand and undulating dunes. Often used as a film location, Holywell has most recently appeared in Poldark!

Facilities: Toilets can be found a short walk from the car park.

Nearest car park: The National Trust car park is five minutes’ walk from the beach.

Holywell Bay Cornwall

Crantock
A wonderfully wide beach boasting a vast expanse of golden sand, Crantock Beach is dog friendly all year round and a favourite with families. Picnic in the high dunes, try paddle boarding in the sparkling blue water, and take buckets to go crabbing in the estuary.

Facilities: There are toilets in the car park. The village of Crantock up the hill has a pub and cafes.

Nearest car park: At the end of Beach Road. Climb up and over the sand dunes from the car park to get to the beach.

Fistral Beach
One of the best surfing beaches in Europe, Fistral Beach is a deservingly popular spot and very family (and dog!) friendly. A long sandy beach backed by rocks and cliffs, children will love scrambling over the rocks and searching for pretty shells.

Facilities: beachfront toilets and showers, restaurants and shops.

Nearest car park: Fistral beach car park right on the beachfront.

Towan Beach
In the heart of Newquay, family friendly Towan beach is bordered by the harbour on one side and ‘the island’ on the other – a rocky outcrop connected to the mainland by a suspension footbridge.

Facilities: Beachfront bakery, café, surf hire.

Nearest car park: Fore Street car park or Manor Street car park is a short walk through the town
