Your guide to school holidays in 2019
Whether you want to getaway for the school holidays or visit term time, read on and get these dates in your diary.
February half term: 15 – 24 February
Spring can often come early in the south-west with the milder climate, and by February half term the hedgerows will be budding and daffodils brightening the verges. The sea will certainly be cold, but that shouldn’t stop surf-lovers from getting in to enjoy the great swell and quiet waves in February. Whether you’ll be in the water yourself, or watching from the warmth of a beachside café, banish the January blues by booking a holiday by the Cornish coast and count down to a holiday which will be just around the corner!
Easter holidays: 5th – 28th April
With a late Easter this year we can keep our fingers crossed for the start of warmer weather, sparkling seas, and swathes of spring flowers along the cliff paths and coastal walks. There’s always loads of family activities going on over the Easter holidays including Easter trails at National Trust properties and gardens, and a hay bale maze and golden egg hunt at the Eden Project for 2019.
May half term: 24th May – 2nd June
Perranporth’s annual music festival Tunes in the Dunes coincides with the May bank holiday and also the half term this year, so our little corner of the Cornish coast is going to be a popular destination! Join in the fun by booking a holiday in the village, safe in the knowledge that you’ll be able to enjoy your own space in comfortable self-catering accommodation. But you’ll need to book fast: the first announcement of the acts playing at TITD revealed that Madness, Bananarama and Morcheeba are in the line-up, and properties are already booking up!
Summer holidays: 19th July – 31st August
It may seem a long way off now, but we guarantee that the summer holidays will be upon us before we know it! If you’re like us and already dreaming of picnics in the sand dunes, body boarding without wetsuits, and fish and chips on the promenade as the sun sinks into the sea, take a look at our range of shoreside properties and start planning your family’s 2019 summer holiday today.
October half term: 18th – 27th October
The October half term can often be overlooked after the busyness of going back to school in September, but it’s a fabulous time to get away from it all. Allow yourself time to relax with all the family before the craziness of Christmas begins, and make the most of the autumn sunshine, bright crisp days, blue skies and beautiful colours at this time of year. The beaches are also quieter, providing miles of exciting playground for the children. Many of our properties are pet-friendly too, meaning the whole family can enjoy the space, and time, together.
Christmas and New Year break: 20th December – 5th January
How was Christmas 2018 for you? Did you wish you had a bigger table to fit all the family around? Or would have preferred not to have hosted and been left with the clean up? In 2019 why not try something different and book a property in Perranporth or St Agnes to enjoy Christmas Cornish-style. Imagine walking off Christmas dinner along the beach, joining in with the Boxing Day sea-dip, or cosying up with a glass of red and a piece of Christmas cake, all your family around you, and watching the waves from your self-catering holiday property.
If you’re extra organised, or have a particular favourite property that you want to return to, you can even book for 2020: dates are already being reserved!
