World Pasty Championships
Eden Project, near St Austell
2nd March
This fun event is a celebration of the Cornish Pasty. During the championships, bakers, chefs and pasty companies battle it out to create the perfect pasty using closely-guarded recipes. They all hope to be crowned the world champion pasty maker. It’s an exciting event where visitors can learn how to make pasties and taste some of the creations, amid the awesome surroundings of the biomes and gardens of the Eden Project.
Bolster Festival
St Agnes
4th May
This annual festival celebrates the best in Cornish storytelling, music and the arts, and involves a colourful pageant led by a huge puppet known as Bolster the Giant. It’s a great spectacle which starts in the village of St Agnes and finishes with a parade along the cliffs to Chapel Porth beach.

Tunes in the Dunes
Perranporth Beach
24th – 26th May
This laid-back music festival on the beach has grown in popularity over the last few years to become one of Cornwall’s biggest gigs, attracting some nationally renowned bands and musicians. This year, Tunes in the Dunes returns with a sensational line-up that includes Bananarama, Madness and Morcheeba.

Perranporth Carnival

27th July
Expect fun and games at the Perranporth Carnival. It’s one of the town’s biggest cultural events and a day of games, stalls and live music, which ends with a parade through the streets by the townsfolk in elaborate costumes.

St Agnes Carnival

3rd August
St Agnes Carnival takes place in the middle for summer, so it’s an ideal evening out for visitors as well as locals. At the heart of the event is a street colourful fancy dress parade through the streets of the village.

Bands in the Sands
Watering Hole, Perranporth

This series of one-off gigs takes place on the beach at the Watering Hole. Previous acts have included The Levellers, Billy Ocean, Tom Jones and Seal. On 25th July this year Ziggy Marley – internationally renowned reggae artists and son of the legendary Bob Marley – will bring his chilled Jamaican tunes to the Cornish coast. More acts will be announced soon.

Boardmasters
Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay, Newquay
7th – 11th August
Now in it’s 38th year, this major music and sporting event features top bands, surf contests, skateboarding demos and a vibrant festival atmosphere across two coastal sites. The soul of the event remains at Fistral beach where the UK’s best (and some global) surfers compete, while skaters show off their skills on a giant skate ramp in the festival village. But Cornwall’s largest music festival is now held at Watergate Bay where music lovers are treated to sea view gigs from top bands. Headliners in 2019 are Florence & The Machine, Jorja Smith, Dizzee Rascal and Franz Ferdinand. Hundreds of other bands and entertainers also perform across 12 stages in this big midsummer party!

Perranporth Surf Triathlon
Perranporth Beach
1st September
Considered to be one of the country’s toughest triathlons, this extreme surf triathlon is one of Perranporth’s main sporting events organised by the local surf lifesaving club. The triathlon starts with a 1,500 metre swim in the sea, often in challenging surf, followed by a 38km hilly bike ride and 7.5km run along the beach and dunes. Only enter if you’re tough enough!

Newquay Fish Festival
Newquay Harbour
13th – 15th September
This festival by the sea in Newquay is an opportunity to taste freshly cooked fish and seafood, meet the fishermen and watch cookery demonstrations by local chefs. This is all accompanied by live music events and a festival atmosphere at this popular local event.

Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival
Healey’s Cyder farm
13th – 15th September
This charming, little festival returns for its 6th year in 2019 with a lineup of musical acts that include The Wurzels, Reef and Mad Dog Mcrea. As well as musical entertainment, there’ll be comedy performers and entertainers, cider tasting and fine food and drink all weekend.
