Boost your bookings
Go dog friendly
Cornwall is a haven for dog loving holiday makers, with dog friendly beaches, miles of coastline and a plethora of dog friendly bars and restaurants for all the family to enjoy. It’s estimated that 70% of visitors to Cornwall bring a dog, so being a pet friendly property opens you up to a wider audience. In 2019 one third of our guests brought a dog with them on holiday.
Due to seasonal dog bans on the beaches, allowing pets in your property also helps boost bookings outside of the peak seasons as dog owners make the most of the freedom their four legged friends can enjoy in the low and mid seasons.
Guests are charged £35 per dog per week: £10 covers the additional cleaning required, and the remaining £25 is passed onto you to cover any wear and tear. You can stipulate the rules for your particular property, how many dogs you will allow and where they can go within the house. Duchy Holidays’ terms and conditions specify that dogs are not left on their own, are not allowed on the furniture, and we do not accept dogs under one year old.
Include electricity
Most of our holiday homes include electricity with every booking, however due to the nature and age of some properties, some still use coin or key meters. Offering electricity as included in the booking price is always appreciated (and guests generally expect this to be the case), so there’s no need for them to worry about topping the key up or finding change to keep the lights on!
Allow short breaks
Being flexible and offering short breaks can bring in extra bookings, which all add up over the course of a year. If you choose to advertise short breaks at your property, we will use our discretion to ensure we maximise available dates and fit short breaks in within your week bookings, and we will not offer short breaks during the peak weeks.
Welcome small parties
Offering a discount to smaller groups can help fill extra weeks. Offered outside of peak season only, we promote 15% off the full price for an occupancy of half the guests or less. With fewer rooms used, and less bed linen needed, smaller groups cost you less in house keeping costs and can be a great way to get extra income!
Provide towels
Providing towels makes for a hassle free break for your guests. There’s less for them to pack and they also don’t need to worry about carrying soggy towels back home. We recommend providing towels (these can be hired from us for every booking) as an extra benefit for your property.
Be child friendly
Offering a cot and highchair in your property will appeal to those with smaller children, and give you an advantage over a property where these items are a chargeable extra.
A coastal style
When our guests book a holiday to Cornwall, they are looking for a taste of the Cornish lifestyle. Decorating your home in a coastal style and with a nod to the local area will catch the eye of potential guests. A clean, light, comfortable and clutter-free property will encourage bookings.
Get connected
Although a holiday to the coast is a time to switch off, WiFi is one of our most requested attributes. Guests will always favour a property with WiFi so ensure you have broadband available.
Leave a guest book
Having a guest book available shows that you appreciate your guests’ feedback. It is also great for encouraging your visitors to leave a review of their stay. We follow up every booking with an email linking to our review listing on Google (which is important for keeping us high on the search results), but having a guest book handy means reviews can be left at the guests’ leisure. These comments can then be passed to our marketing team, where we will list them on our website to help attract more guests to your property.
Offer little extras
Add thoughtful little touches that make the guests feel they are being looked after such as warm blankets, throws, a coffee machine, fully equipped kitchen drawers, and beach equipment such as a windbreak and bucket and spade can help to encourage repeat bookings.
